Due to the COVID coronavirus crisis, TKF can no longer be responsible for allowing anyone to borrow fencing gear or equipment: everyone - whether you are trying out fencing or are a member of TKF - must provide their own fencing equipment. You can purchase new equipment for moderate prices from the three equipment dealers listed below. At minimum, all fencers must have the following equipment:
- Mask
- Glove
- Weapon(s) of choice
- Chest protector
- Jacket
Leg coverings sufficient to protect the legs can be long shorts or preferably workout wear; fencing knickers are not required but are recommended. Fencing shoes are not required; however, running shoes are not recommended due to the real possibility of injury they can cause related to the nature of the footwork in fencing. Therefore, flat-on-the-outside athletic shoes will work. An equipment bag (sold by fencing equipment providers) will be convenient to hold your gear.
